AEG and BET Team Up for Seventh Annual BET Experience Youth Program presented by AEG

Program has served more than 300 high school students in the greater Los Angeles area to provide exclusive, in-depth look at entertainment industry

AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, and BET Networks teamed up to host the seventh annual BET Experience Youth Program presented by AEG last month in conjunction with BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and the BET Awards.

The program provides high school students with an in-depth look at the entertainment industry through exclusive access to executives, artists and professionals throughout the industry in addition to hands-on music education.

“The BET Experience Youth Program presented by AEG is one of the many unique ways we as a company give back to the surrounding Los Angeles community on an annual basis,” said Erikk Aldridge, Director of Community Affairs, AEG. “Through our partnership with BET and our direct hands-on approach to music education and youth development, we've directly touched the lives of more than 300 high school students through this program – some of which have gone on to appear on The Voice, American Idol and even secure internships with AEG.”

This year 50 high school students from more than 30 high schools throughout LA County participated in an exclusive an intimate Q&A with Roc Nation artists Robin Thicke, Rapsody, Kesington “Kes” Kross, and Aleicia Nicole moderated by BET’s Crystal Johnson, in addition to hearing from industry executives and musicians from AEG’s Goldenvoice, Warner Records, Revolt Media and more, through a panel hosted by More In Music. Students also heard from rapper, Yo-Yo and enjoyed the BET Experience Fan Fest at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

In addition to exclusive access to executives and artists, students also received hands-on learning through a music production class at the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE with singer-songwriter Mumu Fresh (Maimouna Youssef) and were given the opportunity to perform in a talent showcase – from which, two students were selected by AEG and BET staff to perform live on the Coca-Cola Stage during the BET Experience Fan Fest at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The program culminated with a BET Experience Youth Program Alumni Reception, during which students networked with previous Youth Program participants prior to attending the 2019 BET Awards.
