AEG and BET Host Sixth Annual BET Experience Youth Program

Program provides in-depth look at entertainment industry; behind-the-scenes access to BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and BET Awards

Since the inception of BET Experience at L.A. LIVE in 2012, AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company and BET Networks have provided more than 300 students throughout the greater Los Angeles area with an in-depth look at the entertainment industry and behind-the-scenes access to the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and the BET Awards through the BET Experience Youth Program.

This year throughout the course of the three-day youth program leading up to the 2018 BET Awards, 50 students heard from AEG and BET executives and a Roc Nation Music Industry Panel featuring Justine Skye, Mack Wilds, Dominique Dunn and Trakmatik.

In addition to panels from industry executives, participants in the program also received hands-on learning through a music production class at the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE and were given the opportunity to perform in a talent showcase – from which, two students were selected by AEG and BET staff to perform live on the Coca-Cola Stage during the festival.

“Over the past six years, the BET Experience Youth Program has continued to evolve through partnerships with organizations such as Roc Nation and industry executives to expose students to a variety of careers in the music industry that extend beyond performance-based avenues,” said Martha Saucedo, Executive Vice President, AEG.

“Through this program, we have been able to support a number of aspiring and talented youth in the local community, and it has served as a platform to help launch the careers of program alumni – several of whom have come back to intern or work for either AEG or BET,” said Saucedo.

In addition to learning about behind-the-scenes elements of the entertainment industry and the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE, the program’s curriculum came full circle as youth program participants experienced the festival first-hand, attending the 2018 BETX Celebrity Basketball Game, Genius Talk featuring Omari Hardwick hosted by Jemele Hill and the 2018 BET Awards at Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE.
