LA Kings Team Up with Future Goals and Blue Shield of California to Teach Students the Science of Hockey through LA Kings G.O.A.L.S. Program

AEG’s LA Kings welcomed more than 60 students from Balboa Elementary School in Glendale, Calif. to Toyota Sports Center on February 19, 2019, to learn the science of hockey through the LA Kings G.O.A.L.S. Program in partnership with Blue Shield of California.

The students, who had previously participated in the Future Goals STEM program module, which uses Science Technology Engineering and Math concepts to Kings hockey, applied their learning on the ice at the team’s training facility with Kings staff.

Students rotated through four stations under the direction of LA Kings Radio Analyst, Daryl Evans, as well as the Ice Crew and Hockey Development Street Team, which covered concepts like using angles to pass and shoot and how the Zamboni eliminates friction on the ice.

G.O.A.L.S. is an umbrella program encompassing all LA Kings and Blue Shield of California sponsored character building and wellness activities. By championing Green solutions, Open outlooks, Active bodies, Local leaders, and Sharp minds, G.O.A.L.S. equips children in Los Angeles with the practical skills and tools they need to lead healthy lives.
