The five-court indoor Newcastle Entertainment Centre has hosted a range of indoor sports and events including basketball, netball, volleyball, indoor soccer competitions and martial arts. Located in Australia’s largest provincial city, the facilities at the Centre includes a 7,500-capacity arena with retractable seating which provides a 48,440 square foot exhibition space. The venue is set in the Newcastle Showground with facilities including the Centre Ring, Stables and Exhibition Pavilions. The Centre has been managed by AEG Ogden since opening in 1992, over which time the venue has been home to a National Basketball team for nine years, Swifts Netball Team and the Hunter Jaegers Netball Team until the restructuring of the competition for the 2008 season. As part of the AEG Ogden Arena Network, Newcastle attracts a number of concerts and other events which tour as well as family events, such as Disney on Ice and sporting events such as indoor motocross and bull-riding.
