Utilita Arena Newcastle is a purpose built, highly flexible entertainment venue with a capacity of up to around 11,400; located on the Banks of the Tyne adjacent to the Redheugh Bridge, it is within a 10 minute walk of Newcastle's Central Station and 20 minutes by taxi from Newcastle Airport.
Conceived and built by Chas Chandler, ex-member of the 60's band The Animals ('House of the Rising Sun' was their most famous track) and his partner, Nigel Stanger, Newcastle Arena opened its doors for the first time in November 1995 with a concert by David Bowie.
